  • Allergy season is almost here! Buy Loudoun County Honey! Posted April 5, 2013

    Off

As allergy season quickly approaches, people start scouring the web for things that may alleviate their seasonal allergy symptoms.   Honey is often one of the items they find.   Many people swear by local honey- Naturopathic doctors often recommend their patients try raw local honey in order to ease symptoms with the thinking being that because raw local honey contains pollen from the local trees, shrubs and other flora that helps the body recognize the pollen as non-threatening, thereby reducing or eliminating the immune response.

It’s also quite possible that the active enzymes in raw Loudoun honey may also have some effect on the body.   Honey contains numerous enzymes including invertase (saccharase) and diastase (amlyase) both of which are introduced by the bees, and glucose oxidase which helps produce the antimicrobial and antibacterial hydrogen peroxide.  Also different nectar and floral sources change the enzymatic make up of the honey.

If you would like to be notified when we have our fresh raw local honey again, please email sales@beesburgofleesburg.com to be added to our mailing list.  Alternately fill out the form here and provide your email address to be notified when we get more supply.
